About this case study

A case study,
not a real garage

TUSK Automotive doesn't exist. This website was made as a case study: an example of how a used car garage's website could look and work.

What works now

In this case study

  1. Homepage

A single screen with video, the name in large type and four clear links into the site, plus the contact details.

  2. Our cars

Filter by type and sort by price, mileage and year. Every car has a status: available, reserved or sold.

  3. Detail pages

For the BMW E90 325i and the MINI F56: tabs with photos, a gallery, the price with a finance example, specifications, equipment, and buttons to book a test drive, call or send a WhatsApp.

  4. Enquiries

Test drive, part-exchange and workshop links open the form already filled in, with the right extra questions for each topic.

  5. Fast, secure and easy to find

Lightweight photos and videos, self-hosted fonts, security headers, structured data for Google, and easy to use with a keyboard and screen reader.

In a live version

For a real garage

  1. Connecting the stock feed

The cars are currently stored in a single file in the code. For a real garage, the stock would come automatically from the stock management system or the listings feed (for example AutoTrack, Marktplaats/Gaspedaal or the dealer system). A new arrival, a sale or a price cut would then show on the site within minutes, with all the photos.

  2. Managing status and price yourself

The garage marks a car as reserved or sold, or changes the price, with a single click. The buttons on the site update to match, so no more enquiries come in about cars that have already gone.

  3. Enquiries that actually arrive

The form goes to the garage's inbox or customer system, with spam protection and a confirmation email to the customer. Test drive and workshop appointments can go straight into the calendar.

  4. A detail page for every car

Every car automatically gets its own page with a permanent link, so it's easy to share on WhatsApp and easy to find on Google.

  5. Your own photos, and reviews you can trust

Real photos and video of the business, the team and the workshop instead of stock images. Plus Google reviews, quality marks (such as BOVAG) and a NAP mileage report for every car.

  6. Finance

The finance example is linked to the lender's actual terms, so the amounts are accurate.

Fictional details

The address, phone number, WhatsApp, email, KvK and VAT numbers, prices and registration plates are made up and not in use. Photos and videos are stock images from Pexels; real registration plates and dealer names have been made unrecognisable.
